Loss of livelihood for many Venezuelans

The humanitarian situation in Venezuela is catastrophic. The majority of the population lives in poverty due to the weak economy. Venezuela is characterized by severe food insecurity, many people have no access to clean drinking water and the healthcare system is completely overburdened. High inflation means that there is a shortage of skilled workers in the healthcare sector, and there is a lack of medicines and medical equipment, meaning that many people do not receive adequate care. Millions of Venezuelans have therefore had to leave their country and some have fled to Colombia.

Medication supply and improvement of the nutritional situation

action medeor is involved in a wide range of measures to support the people in Venezuela and in neighboring countries: We support the supply of medicines to patients in remote regions of the country. Since 2023, action medeor has also been implementing a program with three local partner organizations to secure food supplies using locally proven methods and to spread knowledge of these methods among the population. In addition to these measures in the country itself, action medeor also supports refugees from Venezuela in neighboring Colombia.
