Humanitarian aid and strengthening healthcare systems in Ukraine and Moldova

Together with local partner organizations and the Ukrainian Ministry of Health, action medeor is implementing a range of measures from July 2024 to July 2026 to improve healthcare, well-being, and living conditions for people affected by the war in southern Ukraine and in Moldova.

In Ukraine, the project focuses on improving healthcare services and support related to gender-based violence for people in the Kherson and Mykolaiv oblasts. This includes awareness-raising activities, training for staff of public authorities, psychological support services, case management, and individual protection assistance. In addition, the targeted groups benefit from improved healthcare services through medical consultations, health promotion activities, capacity-building training, and the provision of prescriptions for essential medicines.

Furthermore, the project includes the distribution of winter relief items (including stoves and fuel) and the deployment of mobile teams to provide medicines, medical supplies, and hygiene items to households near the front line.

Complementing these measures, deliveries of dried plasma and medical equipment are carried out in cooperation with the Ukrainian Ministry of Health to support hospitals in various regions of the country.

In Moldova, the project improves access to primary healthcare and protection services for the population. Activities include medical consultations, referrals to specialized facilities, the provision of prescriptions, health promotion activities, training for healthcare professionals, and awareness-raising sessions on protection and mental health.

This comprehensive approach ensures appropriate, needs-based support and addresses the diverse needs of vulnerable population groups in both countries.
