There is a humanitarian crisis in South Sudan: millions of people are affected by displacement, poverty and hunger.
Human rights violations, a lack of healthcare, hunger and violence: the humanitarian situation in South Sudan is worrying. Even though the civil war was officially declared over in 2018, there are still armed conflicts between the warring parties to this day.
In addition to the violent conflicts, the country is also struggling with the consequences of climate change: droughts and floods exacerbate poverty, disease and food shortages.
South Sudan's infrastructure is unable to provide adequate care for the population: the healthcare system is failing; there is a lack of medicines and medical equipment. Water, sanitation and energy supplies also do not reach large parts of the population. In addition, the influx of refugees from conflict-ridden Sudan further exacerbates the health and economic situation in South Sudan.
In order to support the health system in South Sudan in coping with the huge humanitarian emergency in the country, action medeor, as the "emergency pharmacy of the world", regularly sends aid shipments of medicines and medical supplies to health facilities in the country.
The need is huge and diverse: The aid packages contain medicines such as painkillers, antibiotics and anti-worm medication, therapeutic supplementary food and vitamin tablets, as well as hygiene materials, bandages and surgical equipment such as scalpels, infusion stands and surgical gloves.
With your donation for the work of action medeor, you help us to give people in countries like South Sudan access to healthcare and provide help in times of acute need!
Your donation enables us to provide medical care to people in crisis and disaster regions.
