In the region, where valuable metals and other raw materials are mined, rival military groups are fighting for supremacy, while people are fleeing poverty, hunger and violence to refugee camps. action medeor has worked with local partners to set up health stations there, ensure a functioning water supply and continue the fight against malnutrition, especially among children.

In South Sudan, action medeor is cooperating with various Catholic organizations and hospitals, which are supplied with medicines and medical equipment. South Sudan is the youngest and poorest country in Africa. Particularly in rural regions, many people are so weakened by poverty and hunger that even a simple infection can be life-threatening. A shipment of painkillers, antibiotics, glucose and medical equipment from action medeor is currently on its way to the diocese of Wau in the northwest of the country.
