Since 2018, the country has made significant political and social progress, yet it continues to face major challenges. The aftermath of the war with Azerbaijan over Nagorno-Karabakh in the fall of 2020, as well as the flight of more than 100,000 ethnic Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh in September 2023, have deeply shaken the country.
At the same time, important steps in the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan were achieved in 2025, including the initiation of a peace agreement and international mediation at the highest level. Despite these developments, the peace process remains fragile, as key issues - such as domestic implementation and regional security - have yet to be resolved.
action medeor supports hospitals in Armenia by supplying medicines and medical supplies. Since 2000, for example, action medeor has been supporting the ARABKIR Medical Center in Yerevan, the country's capital, which specializes in pediatric and adolescent medicine. In response to the large refugee movements from Nagorno-Karabakh in 2023, a large aid shipment was sent to the children's hospital in Yerevan to support the care of the additional young patients.
