Earthquake aid for Turkey & Syria

Even more than a year after the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, thousands of people still need help.

The earthquake disaster in February 2023 brought immeasurable suffering to the people of Turkey and Syria. action medeor has been working tirelessly ever since to provide immediate relief and long-term support. Thanks to the tremendous willingness to donate, we have already been able to help many people and will continue to do so.

Rapid assistance

In the early hours of February 6, immediately after the first quake, we received calls for help from our partners in the affected regions in Syria and Turkey. Together with our partners, who began the first relief efforts in the first few hours afterwards, we initiated immediate aid:

Earthquake victims were given medical care, provided with hot meals, water, tents and blankets and housed in reception facilities. At the same time, we began assembling the first relief supplies in our warehouse: dressing materials, patient monitors and oxygen concentrators, among other things, were packed so that they could be sent to the affected areas as quickly as possible.

Information about the earthquake

On February 6, 2023, several severe earthquakes shook northern Syria and neighboring areas in Turkey. This natural disaster claimed the lives of more than 54,000 people and left over 100,000 injured. Since then, there has been great suffering and hardship in the affected regions, as many villages and towns lie in ruins. The humanitarian situation is precarious and people urgently need support to find their way back to a normal life. This is where action medeor's help comes in.

Medical care and distribution of relief supplies

Since the start of our emergency relief efforts, over 210,000 hot meals have been distributed and more than 64,000 people have been reached with humanitarian aid. Our teams on the ground have provided medical treatment, distributed tents and blankets and ensured access to clean water and sanitary facilities. In the worst-affected areas, we were able to ensure the survival of many people and take the first steps towards stabilizing the situation.

"The food distribution is very important for the local people because it provides a clear structure. And it's a real help because people in the tents can't really provide for themselves. The people are incredibly grateful and the whole thing gives the camp situation great stability."

Another important focus of our work is healthcare. In Syria, we are supporting the establishment of a medicine warehouse in order to secure medical care in the long term. We are also sending mobile health teams to provide medical and psychological assistance, particularly in remote and hard-to-reach areas.

Thank you!

The help we have been able to provide thanks to your generous donations has already made a big difference. Your support enables us to continue to be active on the ground and help people in need. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your trust and solidarity in these difficult times. Every donation helps to sustainably improve the lives of those affected and give them hope.

Current situation and ongoing needs

Although we have already achieved a great deal, the situation remains critical. Many people continue to live in precarious conditions and the supply of essential goods such as food, water, clothing and hygiene products remains essential. Your ongoing donations are therefore essential to provide much-needed aid and support reconstruction efforts. Your donation makes a crucial difference - together we can rebuild the lives of those affected.
