A few weeks after the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, the situation in the affected regions remains critical. Many people continue to require medical assistance, not least because healthcare facilities have been damaged and essential medicines are in short supply. As a result, action medeor is continuing its emergency relief efforts. A major donation of 50,000 euros from the Rottendorf Foundation is making a crucial contribution to the delivery of urgently needed medicines and medical supplies. The first aid shipments from action medeor are already being used in the particularly hard-hit coastal region of La Guaira, including at Hospital San José. The hospital in the provincial capital was itself damaged by the earthquake. Many patients can currently only be treated under makeshift conditions, in some cases even outdoors. The medicines and medical supplies delivered are helping to maintain healthcare services for injured people, patients suffering from illness, and those with chronic health conditions. “Our aid is reaching those who urgently need it. The first shipments are already being used to treat people. At the same time, we can see that the need remains enormous, even weeks after the disaster. That is why we are preparing further assistance”.
