Libya Floods 2023

In September 2023, Storm Daniel brought extreme rainfall to the Mediterranean region. These heavy rains caused severe flooding in the coastal regions of Libya.

As a result of the heavy rainfall, two dams near the Libyan city of Darna collapsed. The resulting flood waves led to a catastrophe in Darna: Over 11,000 people lost their lives, thousands more were injured, and many others were left homeless.

In collaboration with local partners, action medeor is providing emergency relief: We are supplying people with hot meals and distributing relief items such as blankets, pillows, and hygiene materials. Additionally, medical supplies from our medical warehouse in Tönisvorst were transported to the disaster area.
