Ukraine Odessa social pharmacy: medicines for people in need Programs With the years of war, the need is growing: older people in particular have been victims of the economic and political developments in Ukraine since the start of the conflict in 2014. In many cases, the low pensions are not enough to pay the prices for energy, food and medicine, which have been rising since 2014. The pensioners who are dependent on support are competing with displaced persons from the eastern parts of the country for the little privately organized and state social assistance. The social pharmacy in the center of Odessa aims to support people in financial need and internally displaced persons - in particular by providing free medicines and medical supplies, but also other essential goods such as baby food or hygiene products. Three times a week, between 100 and 150 people receive free over-the-counter and prescription medicines. action medeor supports the social pharmacy in its work, which is run as a non-profit initiative by volunteers.
