action medeor allocates €100,000 for people in Gaza

In light of the dramatic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, the medical aid organization action medeor is providing 100,000 euros for emergency relief measures.

"These funds are a clear sign of our humanitarian commitment and our responsibility toward the people of Gaza, whose living conditions have significantly worsened in recent months," explains board spokesperson Sid Peruvemba.

From the funds now made available, the “Emergency Pharmacy of the World,” as action medeor is also known, intends to use 20,000 euros immediately for the provision of medicines. These are to be shipped from the medication warehouse in Tönisvorst towards Gaza. At the same time, local procurement options are also being reviewed. “Even though access to Gaza is currently heavily restricted, we believe it is essential to prepare and have relief supplies ready. It must not fail due to a lack of materials when access becomes possible,” Peruvemba emphasizes.

In addition, action medeor is financially contributing to an ongoing relief shipment via Jordan, which is being organized by a local partner organization. The focus of this aid is on distributing food. “We are also currently examining potential cooperation with organizations on the Egyptian side of the Gaza Strip,” Peruvemba announces.

In the medium term, action medeor plans to support projects in Gaza not only with medical aid but also in the areas of water and sanitation. “The implementation of all measures depends on the situation on the ground, access to the affected areas, and the capabilities of our partners,” explains Peruvemba. “But we want to do our part to help improve the dramatic humanitarian situation for the people in Gaza.”
