Press action medeor

During a tour of the medicines warehouse in Tönisvorst, Dohmen gained an impression of the aid organization's capabilities and the many different areas of operation around the world. He was briefed by action medeor President Siegfried Thomaßen, Board Spokesman Sid Peruvemba and Head of Communications Angela Zeithammer.

During his visit to Tönisvorst, Dohmen inquired in particular about aid activities in the Republic of Moldova. In Europe's poorest country, the cost of living has exploded since the war in Ukraine, while at the same time the country is taking in hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian refugees. A few months ago, Sparkasse Krefeld therefore donated 20,000 euros to action medeor to support humanitarian projects in Moldova. The donation was made on the occasion of Siegfried Thomaßen's retirement. Thomaßen, who holds the office of President of action medeor on an honorary basis, had previously worked at Sparkasse Krefeld for 45 years, most recently as Deputy Director.

The exchange with Jochem Dohmen from Sparkasse Krefeld also served to show where the donation has gone in the meantime. “We have been able to use the money to support refugee families from Ukraine and host families in Moldova with food and medicines,” Sid Peruvemba reported on behalf of action medeor. “Your donation has reached the people who urgently need this support,” Peruvemba said, “and I would like to express my sincere thanks for this commitment.”

Jochem Dohmen was impressed by the work of the aid organization after his visit. “I was not previously aware of how large, valuable and comprehensive the aid provided by action medeor is, I am deeply impressed,” the savings bank board member summarized. “We feel vindicated in our choice of donation recipient and can see that our donation has provided a great benefit,” Dohmen concluded.
