"In the border region between Burundi and the DR Congo, there are many armed groups and tens of thousands of internally displaced people who have had to leave their homes to escape hunger and violence in their villages. The floods have therefore affected a group of people who are already very weak and vulnerable,” Sid Peruvemba, spokesman for the board of action medeor, explains. “Together with our local partner organizations, we are now reaching out to these people to provide them with the basic necessities,” Peruvemba says. "It's about very basic things that are now lacking: Food, clean water and hygiene."
