After dam burst near Kherson: help for refugees Press releases 06 June 2023 After a dam was destroyed near Kherson, action medeor is preparing for major refugee movements in the region. Donations are to be made available for the care of refugees from the flooded areas. “The situation is still unclear, we don't know what will happen,” Markus Bremers, press spokesman for action medeor, reports. "Our local partners tell us that the water has already reached Kherson, but there has not yet been any serious flooding in the city. The first families who fled the surrounding villages for fear of flooding have already arrived in Kherson,” Bremers continues. “Our local partners are now taking care of the people.” The health aid organization action medeor has been providing aid in Ukraine since February 2022 and is also active in the Kherson region. Together with the local aid organization Farwater, action medeor operates a mobile pharmacy in the region as well as a lunch table for children. “These services are still working at the moment,” Bremers says, “but we also have to prepare for an interruption or evacuation.” If you would like to support the work of action medeor, you can make a donation. If you donate online at www.medeor.de/spenden, you can also leave your address for a donation receipt.
