Earthquake in Morocco

Following the severe earthquake in Morocco, action medeor is providing 30,000 euros in emergency aid.

After the severe earthquake in Morocco, action medeor is preparing for the first relief measures. As a first step, the medical aid organization from Tönisvorst in the Lower Rhine region is providing 30,000 euros in emergency aid. "We are active in Morocco through our network and are in contact with various partner organizations with whom we are now assessing the situation. The task now is to provide the earthquake victims with initial medical care, the most basic necessities and safe accommodation as quickly as possible,” Sid Peruvemba, spokesman for the action medeor board of directors, explains.

Together with its local partners, action medeor will now assess the situation on the ground. “We don't have a clear picture yet, but we assume that medical supplies, food, tents and blankets will be needed in large numbers,” Peruvemba says. "The next few days will show what the specific needs are and how we can meet them. We are therefore already preparing for possible requests."
