In these troubled times, good news can easily get lost. This makes it all the more important for us to regularly report positive stories from our project countries, which show by way of example that donations are worthwhile and that help really does get to where it is needed. Ukraine: children's laughter in the midst of war "The children can just be children on these days. You can see in their eyes how much they love it. And how much they need it." This is what action medeor employee Markus Bremers reports after his visit to Ukraine. In a children's home near Mykolayiv and at other locations close to the front line, action medeor organizes play afternoons that give children carefree moments and positive childhood memories despite the war: romping around together, playing, fooling around, doing crafts, singing and making friends - healing moments for the soul and for a hopefully more peaceful future. Colombia: No more waiting for the doctor to come Whoever is ill goes to the doctor. In some villages in Bolívar, however, there were only a few medical consultations a month - far too few. The health stations were also poorly equipped and badly in need of renovation: “There was even an acute risk of injury,” reports a village chief. Our partner CDP has now comprehensively renovated three wards and ensured that significantly more consultation hours are offered everywhere - and thus significantly more people receive the medical treatment they urgently need. Sierra Leone: Becoming a woman unharmed The “Bondo ritual” marks the transition to adulthood for girls and young women in Sierra Leone - and often also to a traditional role as mother and housewife. Part of the ritual is the circumcision of the clitoris, a practice that poses a health risk for many of those affected. Intensive awareness-raising work by our partner WAVES contributed to a noticeable social rethink in the project area: In the district of Niawa Lenga, circumcisions are now prohibited. And more and more parents are enabling their daughters to complete their schooling - thanks to the commitment of WAVES and the support of donors like you! For 60 years, we at action medeor have seen how small changes make big differences. We will continue to do so, because everyone deserves access to adequate healthcare. With a donation you contribute to this - and with a permanent donation even in the long term! Thank you Successes like these are only possible thanks to the support of donors like you! We would be delighted if you would support action medeor's global efforts with your donation.
