Guatemala: Commitment to health

After the presidential elections, many people are hopeful. Nevertheless, action medeor's aid must continue!

The presidential election in Guatemala has given many people hope. The newly elected President Arévalo wants to fight corruption and the suffering in the country: Because currently almost every second child in Guatemala is malnourished. 60 percent of the population lives in poverty.

Great hardship in rural regions

The indigenous communities in the rural regions of Guatemala are particularly affected. Food is scarce and extreme weather causes great damage. Even easily treatable diseases such as respiratory infections lead to deaths, as there are hardly any trained health personnel. Children, pregnant women, the elderly and the chronically ill in particular are in urgent need of medical help.

In action for health

action medeor is working with partner organizations in 14 villages in Guatemala to make this often life-saving help possible: health personnel are trained so that they can better identify diseases and take the right measures. Health stations receive medicines and medical equipment such as stethoscopes and blood pressure monitors. In view of the many extreme weather events, emergency plans are also being developed together with the villagers to save lives in the event of a disaster!

Your donation works!

Even with a committed government, this help is still urgently needed! With your donation, you can make a difference: Together we can provide people in rural Guatemala with medical care and prospects for the future.
