Support for Master's students in Tanzania

Tanzania has fewer than three pharmacists per 100,000 inhabitants. Reason enough for the action medeor foundation to take action.

There is a lack of well-trained pharmaceutical staff throughout the country's healthcare system - in hospitals, in the pharmaceutical industry, in drug and health authorities and especially at universities for teaching and research. An additional problem is that well-trained pharmacists often leave the country.

Support from the action medeor foundation

This is where action medeor comes in and enables scholarship holders to enroll in a master's degree program at Muhimbili University in Dar es Salaam. Within the two-year scholarship, the action medeor Foundation finances the university fees, the publication of the master's thesis and the living expenses of the students so that they can concentrate on their studies.

Scholarship holder Mary Kisima has big plans: To one day hold a management position in a large healthcare facility, to encourage other young women to pursue a career in science and to help heal the sick as a pharmacist. The 32-year-old Tanzanian is supported by a scholarship from the action medeor Foundation, which is funding her Master's degree in Pharmacy at the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania.
