Entrepreneurs’ Initiative of the Lower Rhine

Committed. Local. Impactful. Strong together for global health – alongside action medeor.
Since 2014, the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative has been an independent network of business leaders who come together to support action medeor, connect through their commitment, and do so with passion, joy, and strong motivation.

What Drives Us

  • Advancing global health: We support action medeor in bringing medicines, medical equipment, and expertise to regions where they are needed most.
  • Living responsibility: As entrepreneurs from the region, we demonstrate that economic success and social commitment go hand in hand.
  • Strengthening community: Our network fosters valuable connections, new ideas – and a true sense of togetherness.

Our Impact

  • Creative fundraising initiatives: Together, we have already supported numerous health projects run by action medeor.
  • Events with heart: With great enthusiasm, we organize events that combine social commitment with enjoyment, team spirit, and genuine personal interaction.
  • A true highlight: the “TeamExperience” – a team event of a very special kind! On the Süchteln Heights, fun, community, and a good cause come together. Through sporting, creative, or culinary activities, genuine connections are formed – and unforgettable memories created. This event is organized by the member companies Kraftfeld Leadership GmbH and Kletterwald Niederrhein and will take place again on September 9, 2026.

Our Established Traditions

Each year, we celebrate two very special evenings within our network:

  1. The anniversary of the Entrepreneurs’ Initiative – a festive occasion to look back together, celebrate successes, and develop new ideas.
  2. The Rhineland Evening – a convivial event full of heart, humor, and generosity. Here, there is not only plenty of laughter, but also generous giving!

"Given the many crisis regions across the globe, we deliberately chose to support action medeor through our involvement in the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative. We believe in taking social responsibility beyond our own region. Thanks to action medeor’s professional work, we are confident that help reaches those who need it most."
Dr. Bernd M.Wittschier

“Corporate social engagement has become an integral part of business practice under the concept of Corporate Social Responsibility. As the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative, we seek to unite what has long been second nature to many companies: expanding the perspective beyond immediate business interests to focus on areas that may not be at the center of economic attention, yet are of great relevance to society. Our decision to support the German medical aid organization action medeor e.V. also reflects our regional commitment: based in Tönisvorst on the Lower Rhine, action medeor has been delivering medical aid around the world for more than 50 years.”

Christian Hülsemann

“Trust, reliability, fairness. These are the values we stand for at A & O. I read about the Entrepreneurs’ Initiative in my hometown in the local newspaper and was impressed. This is a form of support that truly resonates with me. For many years, we have been supporting social projects and associations, primarily in our local area. After visiting the aid organization in our neighborhood, we became convinced that we can achieve more together. Communication about the work of action medeor takes place within our company with our employees, as well as with our suppliers and customers. By talking about further supporting and raising awareness for action medeor, we hope to make a meaningful contribution – just as much as through our financial donations.”

Guido W. Zahn

“As a company with a long-standing tradition on the Lower Rhine, we feel a responsibility not only toward our customers and employees, but also toward the region we call home. For us, taking responsibility means looking beyond our own business interests and providing support where it is urgently needed. Through our partnership within the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative and our support of action medeor, we aim to send a strong message of solidarity – rooted locally, with global impact.”

Dennis Bender

“For 30 years, our agency has stood for ‘communication with passion.’ For us, this also means listening carefully and then offering our support in a targeted and meaningful way. Getting involved in the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative was therefore a natural step for us. As a company rooted in the Lower Rhine region, supporting action medeor in the spirit of good neighborliness and solidarity comes naturally to us – guided by the motto ‘Think global, act local.’”

Kristiane Guth

“For almost 40 years, we have been producing clay-based building materials, and both our company and our values are deeply rooted in the region. Our motivation is to make the wonderful building material clay available for modern construction everywhere. The principles of our company include the use of renewable energy, efficiency at all levels, decentralized production, and exemplary social standards. We became familiar with action medeor through a friend and have been very impressed by the organization’s commitment, the transparency of its aid projects, and above all the passion of its employees. This inspired us—also due to our regional proximity—to support action medeor and take on social responsibility.”

Gabi & Peter Breidenbach

“As Managing Director of DEKRA Media GmbH, both my company and I are deeply rooted in the Lower Rhine region. Membership in the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative enables us to take on social responsibility directly within our region while also keeping the bigger picture in mind. Through our support of action medeor, we are committed to an aid organization that helps people in need around the world from its local base in our direct neighborhood, and that stands for values and principles we strongly identify with in our day-to-day entrepreneurial activities.”

Peter Nieskens

“Supporting people in need is not only particularly important to me personally, but is also a matter close to the hearts of the entire ecotel team. When choosing an aid organization that operates effectively and does good worldwide, action medeor has convinced us with its sustainable impact as the ‘pharmacy of the world.’ Through our membership in the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative, we are happy to take responsibility for greater humanity and improved healthcare.”

Markus Hendrich

“Anyone who, like myself, grew up on the Lower Rhine grew up with action medeor as well. As a student, I first became familiar with the aid organization during a visit, and throughout all the years that followed, it has always remained present in my mind.

Now, fortunately, the time has come when I am also able to provide active support in a professional capacity.

For several years, I have been serving as Managing Director of the Grefrath Ice Sport & Event Park. Its core foundation is a non-profit organization that combines ice skating as both a popular sport and a leisure activity. Through working with a non-profit gGmbH, I have learned how challenging it can sometimes be to balance charitable purpose and economic viability. Continuous advocacy and the ongoing search for suitable cooperation partners are essential components of our work. With the world-renowned Holiday on Ice in Grefrath, we have finally found an opportunity to become actively involved for and with action medeor and to initiate a partnership.

We are delighted to be able to make a small contribution in this way, supporting action medeor in its incredibly important mission, and we look forward to a long-term collaboration.”

Bernd Schoenmackers

“A trusted business partner drew my attention to the German medical aid organization action medeor e.V. and sparked my curiosity. I promptly informed myself about the organization and formed my own impression. I am amazed at how long the organization has been in existence and how many projects it has supported and initiated.

I am happy to donate to these valuable initiatives, which benefit so many people around the world.”

Bernd Hüsges

“I became a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Initiative because I admire the work of action medeor e.V. I would like to help ensure that many people become aware of the work and support that action medeor e.V. provides, and are willing to donate to this cause. For companies, it is always easier to engage their customers for an organization when that organization is based in the region.”

Jörg Brockes

“We are members of the Entrepreneurs’ Initiative for action medeor e.V. because we are inspired by the people who, with passion and personal commitment, bring support to the poorest regions of the world – assistance that truly reaches those in need, is transparent and verifiable, and can make a significant impact. The Entrepreneurs’ Initiative enables us, even as a young company, to support this valuable work and fulfill our desire to continually look beyond our own horizons and engage in social responsibility. Regional proximity and our close connection to action medeor e.V. also play an important role for us. We greatly value the team at action medeor e.V. as well as the members of the Entrepreneurs’ Initiative – a special group of people who are down-to-earth, dedicated, trustworthy, and seemingly always ready to move mountains together. Thank you very much for that!”

Katrin Kraft

“For many years, Ley Beyel Hoff Hellmann Steuerberater PartmbB from Kempen and Grefrath has been a committed supporter and donor to action medeor in Tönisvorst. The Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative (UI) offers us the opportunity to perfectly combine entrepreneurial and social commitment – active regionally while making a social impact beyond borders. Together, we are committed to supporting action medeor, and we very much look forward to it.”

Martin Beyel

“Idealism is a word that is often met with skepticism – especially when combined with the private sector. For us, however, idealism is a driving force behind both our entrepreneurial and personal activities. Values only matter if they are not merely written down, but actively lived. That is why we are committed within our company, with our customers, and beyond. Why action medeor? Why look far away when what is good is so close at hand? In addition, action medeor is transparent, genuinely approachable, and trustworthy in its dealings – while remaining realistic and guided by a clear brand identity.”

Mathias Huppenbauer & Mark Wigge

“When making decisions at Mars, we consistently follow five fundamental principles. Among these are ‘Responsibility’ and ‘Mutuality,’ which align perfectly with the values of action medeor. As a family-owned company, it is important to us to also consider future generations and to engage in projects that support this focus. Our collaboration with action medeor has worked wonderfully from the very beginning due to our shared values, open accessibility, and mutual transparency. We look forward to continuing to work together on joint projects in the future—to support those in need and to celebrate positive outcomes together.”

Evelina Wagner

“Performance, respect, openness, and responsibility are key core values at OBI. We take this responsibility seriously toward our employees and customers and are also committed beyond our day-to-day business activities to the wider social environment.

For this reason, as a member of the Lower Rhine Entrepreneurs’ Initiative, we are very pleased to support the valuable work of action medeor.”

Leonhard Lankes

“As PAULA Water GmbH, we are delighted to be able to support action medeor e.V. together with other companies in implementing corporate responsibility. One of the major challenges of the modern world is to ensure basic services for people in less developed and disaster-affected countries, in line with the standards and capabilities of developed and prosperous nations. action medeor addresses this challenge by providing rapid assistance to people in affected countries with medicines and equipment, for example in the fight against malaria.

Our company’s mission is to realize people’s fundamental right to safe drinking water through the use of our PAULA drinking water treatment system.

In this spirit, our goals are closely aligned and shaped by a shared commitment to sustainable aid and lasting change.”

Rebecca Triekens-Domrös & Joachim Domrös

“There is so little we can do to counter the suffering in the world. That is why, as a service provider, we support the activities of action medeor – an organization that delivers aid worldwide. Support is needed everywhere, and small and medium-sized enterprises can contribute as well. That is why we commit ourselves and work together with our colleagues in the Entrepreneurs’ Initiative. There is still much to be done.”

Dr. Ralph Reiber

“With our agency, we connect sports and business – both at the professional sports level and in grassroots sports through our Grenzland Football School. Sport is an important factor in our society and depends on many conditions that are not taken for granted in other parts of the world. That is why we would like to contribute to helping people in other regions of the world live a more carefree life.”

Robert Pinior

“I have been based on the Lower Rhine since 2016 and became a member of the Entrepreneurs’ Initiative shortly thereafter, in 2018. The concept behind action medeor sparked my curiosity, and after attending my first event, it became clear to me that I wanted to get involved. I am very pleased to be able to contribute to increasing the visibility of action medeor, so that more people become aware of this extraordinary organization.

Authentic, approachable, and genuinely warm people who stand behind this project with full conviction and from the bottom of their hearts.”

Thomas Bocian

“The founding idea of action medeor goes back to Dr. Ernst Boekels, who in 1964, as a dedicated physician, collected medicines from his patients in order to make an important contribution to healthcare in crisis regions. From this humanitarian impulse emerged the organization that is now known as the ‘pharmacy of the world.’ In this spirit, we have decided to support action medeor in its important work and particularly value the impressive commitment of its employees. Together with like-minded supporters, we aim to help make the vital work of this organization known to our international customers as well – for better medical care for people worldwide. That is our commitment.”

Rainer Rüther & Gisela Rüther-Dahlhoff

“Commitment requires appreciation in order to stay alive and motivated. The idea of VILLA V – preserving and initiating culture – means a great deal to me here in our Western, well-provided world, and it is something I pursue with full dedication. In the poorest regions of the world, daily life demands entirely different priorities. In the work of action medeor, people and their needs are placed at the center. Aid initiatives are decided from the Lower Rhine via efficient and professional channels. Very impressive!”
